[Action, Part One]

[It's been several days since the Kin'Corans have returned home -- several days in which Syre has been oddly at ease with herself.]

[Today, however, she feels... anxious. antsy, even.]

[The rush of recently arrived New Feathers make her want to go out and about, possibly get acquainted with some of the new faces. Of course, anyone she already knows is free to bump into her, as well!]

[Voice]

[Later in the evening, she sets up a feed for a little voice chat.]

Good evening, friends and New Feathers -- that is to say, anyone that has just recently arrived to our fine enclosure... My name is Syre Atries.

Rather than waste your time with a wordy introduction, I'd like to pose a question.

Are any of you interested in the sciences? Biology, specifically. I've been wanting to get back to my research as of late, and it's quite hard to hold a discussion when there are so few that enjoy it as much as I do...

[Action, Part Two]

[Then, later that night, Syre is going to be roaming about the plaza. More specifically, she's going to be people watching -- the few people that are out and about at this time of night will not be spared her studious, almost analytical gaze.]

[Those of you that notice her watching are free to question why she's staring at you like a scientist would study a lab rat, of course.]

Oh? [Syre's eyes are wide, her expression one of curosity.]

Your magic is more similar than I thought. Symbols and willpower play a large part in the work of an alchemist, though it also depends on the life-span of the one performing the work.

[A moment's pause, and then:] You have a magic group?

"... We had a meeting a while back. Only the one, it wasn't very well organized, but... there was a lot of interest when I suggested it, so I figure it's worth a shot."

Oh! Well, the next time you're organizing a meeting, do give me some notice. I'd be delighted to join in.

[She smiles widely.]

"Done." I grinned.

"... So you mentioned other magic on your homeworld. Can you do any?"

Unfortunately not. [Syre looks mildly disappointed.] Mostly because I've never been to another nation long enough to take notes on their spellcasting systems.

"Huh. Well, if it's something you were interested in studying, that's all the more reason to come to the next magic group. It's a win-win, really."

It definitely seems so! I'm looking forward to it already. [Finally, she stands, going to shake Harry's hand...]

[...and finally realizes how much of a height difference there was. Oh dear.]

Gods Above, you're gigantic!

[Because screw subtlety, Harry -- you're a damn giant compared to her!]

"I am?"

I spared a glance downward and gasped.

"Jesus, call a doctor!"

[For a moment, she looks about ready to do so--]

[--before realizing that he's just being sarcastic, and breaking out into laughter.]

I take it from your reaction that this happens a lot?

"Remarks about my height? Yeah, I've heard one or two."

Only one or two? [You're not the only one capable of sarcasm, Harry.]

But, startling discoveries aside-- [Now she returns to what she was originally going to do: offer her hand for the wizard to shake.] --it's very much a pleasure to have made your acquaintance tonight.

I took the offered hand with a grin.

"Same here. Thanks for being understanding about the, ah, midnight skulking."

I glanced down at the tiny sliver of paint that was still just barely attached and chuckled.

It's truly no problem.

I should say the same to you, considering I was watching the whole thing. [She chuckles.]
