Fifth Incision [Action, Video]

[Action]

[She could remember the keep, the struggle between herself and the guards -- trying to fight her way free from a situation that was growing increasingly futile. She had a mission to complete, and she was so far from the objective--]

[--and then there was darkness. Cold, uncaring darkness. And within that darkness, she heard voices: Pitiful woman. Unable to defend herself. So analytical and careful. Where has that caution gotten you, mm?]

[More and more of them chime in, until the darkness was filled with malevolent, hissing voices. All of them pointing out her flaws -- all of them pointing out that she had died, that her greatest of all fears had come to pass and it was over in the blink of an eye --]

[Death is inevitable, and harboring such fears is pointless, came one last voice. All fears are pointless, don't you think? Causing such worry and despair...]

[Syre didn't know how long she had been unconscious -- No, not unconscious, her brain reminded her, Dead, you had died -- but light of the sun roused her from what felt like an extended, nightmare-filled sleep.]

[She sits up, feels the back of her head, makes sure that she doesn't have anything protruding from her skull or otherwise disfiguring her, then rises to her feet. She lets her head stop spinning before she takes a look at her surroundings.]

[The first thing that she notices is that the Malnosso -- in what Syre can only think of as a twisted sense of convenience -- had placed her on the roof of Community Building 3, which makes the task of returning to her home a trivial one.]

[The second realization is one that is a little more irritating to bear -- there were far more people in the village than she remembered previously. Were they invaders? She didn't spot any of the Third Party among them...]

[Regardless, standing on the roof would get her nowhere. Calmly, she turned away from the view, and made her way down to her room.]

[The video feed from Syre's journal is askew, as though the book had been thrown aside. There are two pairs of legs in frame -- and hushed voices speak about being 'fortunate to have found an empty place' and 'someone else's stuff still here' as they throw Syre's things to the floor.]

[It is around this time that a set of footsteps -- easily heard by both the journal and the looters -- draws nearer. Then, Syre's voice:]

What in the names of... [Her question trails off, and the two people in frame back up. Syre's legs come into view.]

What are you doing in my home?!

[The two thieves start stammering pitifully, uttering things like 'the apartment was empty when we arrived' and 'we didn't know you would come back', and Syre seems to turn. From just out of frame, there's the sound of a sword being drawn, and moments later, the sheathe of Syre's rapier is thrown toward the journal.]

Out! Both of you! I've no qualms about running you through if need be! [The two looters stumble over themselves as they run past her, dropping whatever they had picked up.]

[There's an sound of anger from Syre as she puts her rapier down; moments later, she bends to pick up both its sheathe and her journal, regarding the feed with a look of undiluted rage. Pardon her short temper at the moment -- she's just come back to life and now this happened, so she's understandably very annoyed.]

Why are all of these people here, and why were they in my apartment?!

S-Syre?! A-Are you alright? [ He winces at the video of the rapier coming into play and he looks anxiously over through his own feed. ]
folklorist: (Oh dear)

[ Helios looks...considerably more relieved and actually manages a tired smile at that. He still looks incredibly stressed and out of sorts himself, not getting much sleep will do that to you. But he is trying to keep going. ] Thank goodness. Y-You haven't been here?

[ Not a mallynap, no, there was no mention of it over the journals so...a mission then? ]
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

[ Helios looks a bit taken aback at that news. ] O-Oh, I-I see. I'm, I'm sorry I didn't realize. [ There was a lot going on in his life the past few weeks though. ]

I-I don't think they're, um, a-actually staying permanently. It's j-just for a few days...I believe.
folklorist: (I don't honestly know)

I-I know it's a bit jarring to come back to. Are you sure you're alright? Th-the shifting for f-food and things like that is also being a bit...off.

[ Helios shifts a bit on his end. ] I'm not sure why they're acting like this. W-We're all on the same side, technically.
folklorist: (Sigh. Yes of course.)

I-I can help you keep them out if, if that would make you feel better? I have a s-sigil that's quite effective for that sort of thing.

[ But he won't do so if she doesn't want it. ] It might be because we have common luxuries that they don't. S-Still it doesn't mean they sh-should be acting in such a manner.

[ Helios frowns and shakes his head, his shoulders shrugging a bit as well. ] Un-unfortunately I-I'm not sure, really. It seems like their own enclosure underwent an attack. It could be some time...

[ He looks a bit worriedly over at Syre. ] I can...put up the sigil right away if-if you'd like.
folklorist: (A rather interesting thought)

Let's hope so t-too. It's...dreadful enough that they got pushed out of their homes. [ And that they were now starting fights here was a bad sign. What if they had to work with Luceti in the future? Everyone here was on the same ground as everyone else. Fighting would only widen the gap between the separate enclosures. ]

O-oh! Oh, yes, tea would l-lovely. I-I can...stop by if-if you want? [ Of course she does Helios, she wouldn't have offered if she hadn't wanted you over. He looks a bit sheepish as he gives a smile. ]
folklorist: (Never seen anything like it)

I-I suppose they feel, well, wronged in a way. [ His expression looks dour and pensive. ] Their enclosure was something like our own...before we began doing things for the Malnosso a-and they gave us better means for living. Apparently electricity was only recently given to us, about two years ago when I first arrived.

[ Helios looks sheepish and nods with a little smile. ] I-I can bring some...c-cookies or cupcakes if-if you like?
folklorist: (Probably going to run into something)

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-09-10 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
It-it appears so. Or, well, angry about the gross injustice the Malnosso have caused them. They're...not very, um, knowledgeable on the things going on either. B-But I guess that's what is happening with these newer enclosures. [ Helios sighs. ]

But, yes. I'll bring b-both then. [ He smiles as he turns off the video. ] I'll be there sh-shortly.

[ And with that he'll close the journal and busy himself with baking some fresh cookies and cupcakes. It's about half and hour later that Helios will knock on Syre's door, lightly and a bit tentatively. It's...been a while since he's gone out and visited anyone. ]
folklorist: (Peaceful: You wanted to talk?)

[action]

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-09-10 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
[ Helios smiles a bit broader when the door opens. Helios gives Syre a nod as he steps through the door. The aroma of cookies and cupcakes fills the just cleaned apartment. It smells like home, at some levels, and Helios looks back over towards her. ]

Th-thank you for inviting me over. I-I hope I didn't make too much, but um, you can keep the leftovers.
folklorist: (Er. Um. Don't kill me please)

[action]

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-09-11 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
[ Helios colors momentarily at the compliment. He shakes his head with an all too eager decline of that compliment. ] N-No, no. I-I don't think they're that good.

[ A sheepish laugh. ] But I'm glad you life them.
folklorist: (Yes I do agree with that)

[action]

[personal profile] folklorist 2012-09-12 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Helios is looking mighty sheepish at the praise Syre. He is so terribly bad at taking compliments, can't you tell? ] W-Well I'm more than glad to, ah, have made it f-for you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Red velvet cake is one of my favorite as well.

I'll have to make you some other types, sometime. There's so many flavors and varieties to ch-choose from. [ Helios smiles as he sips his own tea. ]

Ah, yes, the sigils. They're, um, based on the person who draws them t-typically speaking. It derives power from the caster and d-depending on if it's a blood seal, or not, is usually bound to them as well. Th-the sigil I want to use for the barrier is-is a blood seal. So it'll be directly c-connected to me
