[The feed clicks on that Sunday with a thoughtful looking Syre, a cup of juice on the table beside her.]

I've a question for you all, if it would not trouble you to ask. [Here she is silent a moment, taking a sip of her drink before continuing.] And do pardon the interruptions -- I've only just risen from my sleep, you see.

Anyway, back to my point... I have been wondering for a while about the concept of time here in Luceti. I notice that the hours here are not nearly as short, but there are also not as many of them in a day.

What I mean to say is... how exactly does time differ in this world from my own? Because, if the date on this journal is to be believed, today marks the anniversary of my coming into existence.

[Another pause, another sip of her juice, and then she continues again.] To be plain, it would be my birthday today.

... I suppose this means I'll need to make the proper arrangements for some sort of celebration, even if it is for myself.

[And with that (and a faint, amused smile), she shuts off the feed.]

[Not too long after that post, Syre is out and about in the village, bag in hand as she's perusing the shops. A few pastries here, some vegetables there -- she's going to be celebrating with a bit of dinner tonight.]

[Later on, she'll be at the library, looking around for a few cookbooks -- because what are ingredients without something to put them into? She's not going for anything horribly fancy, but if something catches her eye, she'll be copying it down.]

[ Helios shakes his head and gives a light 'tsk' noise. ] But I want to. It's your birthday, you shouldn't have to make your own food and whatnot! I promise that I'll make everything the way you like it.

[ But she can still help with the cake. ]

[Helios. Why do you make her feel like a scolded child.]

[She sighs, shifting the bag of other foodstuffs on her arm.]

Fine... ...but we'll need to head back to the library so I can copy down some recipes I found earlier, from a book that seemed to be from my world.

[And here she takes a few fruits and shuffles them into her bag.]

[ Helios blinks and then smiles acquiescing to that request. ] Oh! But of course! I-I don't mind at all.

[ He'll move then to get the door for her and hold it open. ] Sh-shall we?

We might as well. Daylight's wasting, after all. [Syre slowly shuffles on through the door.]

[She waits for Helios to exit, then starts walking in the direction of the library.]

What sorts of dishes do you typically eat in your world? I confess I, ah, haven't really sorted through the many cook books from other people's worlds.

[ He is a bit busier than usual and doesn't have the time, typically. ]

Since my homeland is in a colder part of the world, meals usually consist of thick stews and other warm foodstuffs.

[All of this is making her hungry. She can't wait to start cooking.]

My favorite dish is a fish filet, roasted with potatoes and served with a thick tomato-based sauce over rice. [...so hungry now. Gods.]

Ah. I certainly understand that. Romanian gets quite cold during the winter. Especially Hunedoara which is by a mountain.

[ Helios is getting hungry too, just from listening. ] That sounds delicious. I'll have to try and make it sometime.

...I didn't realize that our homes were so much alike. [She laughs, softly.]

Or, maybe I could make it for you one day. [Syre smiles warmly.]

There's lots of places in my world that are like that. But, well, Romania can certainly get very...um, chilly, during the winter months. [ A smile as he nods and continues to walk alongside Syre.

He looks over at her when she offers and a smile touches his lips as he does so. ] If-if you don't mind doing so, I-I'd certainly enjoy that.

Ecliptia is the only one on our continent of that climate. There are others on Selles of our sort, of course... but in terms of our neighbors, they get much fairer weather than we do. [She laughs.]

Well, when's your birthday? I wager a cooked meal is among the highest of gifts. Very personal, after all. [There's a glint in her eye as she mentions that.] And, of course, very tasty.

I've gotten so used to the cold that it really doesn't bother me too much anymore. [ And he laughs a little as they finally make it in front of the library. Helios will hold open the door for Syre again and blink when she asks that question. ] M-My birthday? Oh! Ah, December fifteenth.

[ Helios doesn't notice the glint in Syre's eye as he follows behind her. ] What's the title of the book? I-I can go look it up in the catalog for you, if you want?

[She makes a mental note of that as she walks in.] December fifteenth. Got it.

Mm... The title of it should be "The Favorite Drinks, Dishes, and Desserts of the Ecliptian Family". Rather thick book, if it helps.

[ Helios will walk over to the main counter and pull out a rather thick volume containing all the logged books in the library at the time. ] Let's see. I think it should be in the cooking sections, of course, s-so there's a good chance it'll be there.

[ A few moments of looking and Helios will let out an 'aha' as he smiles. ] There, it's definitely here. No one took it out at least.

[ Helios will point in the general direction of the middle row bookshelf. ]

[Syre bounds over to the shelves, setting her bags down by her feet before looking through them; she pulls out what looks like an oversized green journal from the shelves.]

[She picks up her bags and heads back over to Helios, waving the book in her hand.]

All set. Now, shall we be off again?

[ Helios waits patiently and then nods as she comes back over. ] Ready when you are.

[ And off they go! To bake and cook all sorts of things! ]

[Off they go indeed! It doesn't take long to return to Syre's home from the library; she settles all of the foodstuffs onto the counter, and places the cookbook on the kitchen table, and then just... kinda putters about for a bit.]

[She's already antsy, and he hasn't even started cooking yet.]

[ Helios notes Syre's movements and he frowns as he motions to one of the seats. ] Y-You can sit down you know? It might take awhile for the food to c-cook.

[ Still he doesn't want Syre to get to anxious waiting. So he'll get to work immediately. He'll cut up some vegetables, the meat, and everything else and put it into a pot with some beef broth to simmer. She said she liked stew so that is something Helios can most certainly cook well. ]

Well, all right... [Aaaahhhhh, all of the eagerness.]

[Syre takes a seat, though it doesn't take long for her to be up and peering over Helios' shoulder.]

...I was never very good at waiting. [A laugh.]

Patience is a virtue and all that. I-I learned my lesson with using magic to cook a few months ago. [ A laugh. ] H-Having sugar explode everywhere will, um, do that to you I suppose.

[ He takes a seat after getting the pot to a decent simmer. Helios smiles as he looks over at the book Syre had picked up. ] Do you enjoy cooking, Syre?

...I'm impatient, yes, but certainly not that impatient. [She chuckles.]

I do, really. I like cooking, watching other cook... Mother used to say, "If you don't become an alchemist, you'll become a chef."

Part of me regrets not picking up a ladle instead of a blade. [Another laugh, as she sits down across from him.]

Isn't cooking a bit like alchemy though? I mean you use various ingredients to m-make something harmonious. A-And I'm sure you could do both if-if you wanted to.

[ He looks over at the simmering pot the fragrance of the stew wafting through out the room. ] You could certainly become one here, a chef I mean. There's cooking lessons that are held at the, ah, bar. Seventh Heaven I believe? I think you'd make an excellent cook.

...you know, that's true. I could do both.

Seventh Heaven has cooking lessons? I'll have to partake, then.

[The familiar smell of the stew is comforting, though it makes Syre's stomach act up with a minor gurgle.]

[ Helios smiles and nods. ]

There's no reason why you c-couldn't, here at least. Yes they do. I-I'd offer to help you as well, if you'd like. But Sanji is a very good teacher, he's an excellent cook too.

[ As if hearing Syre's stomach Helios' own lets out a gurgle. He laughs and gets up to go check on that stew. ] It looks done. Ah! I forgot to get biscuits with it. [ Oh dear! ]

[Syre rises from her seat, heads to a cupboard, and pulls out a bag of rolls. She turns to Helios with a smile.]

They may not be biscuits, but I think these will make a fine substitute.

[ Helios watches her and nods when she takes out the rolls. ] Those will be perfect. I-I think everything is ready. D-Do you mind if I...get some plates out?
