[Syre's voice tonight is calm -- emotionless, even -- as she broadcasts over the journals.]

To all that I may have interacted with during this most recent of Shifts: let it be known that the name Ariadelle Estriet [--hatred creeps into her voice for that brief moment, dark and bitter--] is one that I prefer not to be addressed by.

I would not have my image sullied by taking on the name of a deserter.

[The feed stops shortly after that.]

[Much, much later that night, a series of quick notes show up. It seems Syre has mistaken her broadcast journal for the one she normally keeps research in.]

-- Energy expenditure in creation of all constructs 1.5 times normal. Care needed to avoid exhaustion.

-- Still unable to ~~give life to~~animate constructs for more than few seconds at a time. Related to power limits of enclosure(?).

-- Research required into alternate means of animating constructs. Must favor alchemic/magical practices; technological research too time-/resource-consuming.

-- Additional research required to grant construct minor magical/alchemic abilities; useful for construction of potential assistant(s).

Oh heavens no. I think you have the Malnosso to blame for that, or the world itself actually. [ Helios laughs as he sets down the plate of freshly baked cupcakes. Luminair chirps happily as he wags his tail, orange eyes beaming and shifting to a bright sky blue. He'll sniff the air and move closer to cupcakes. ]

Ah, Luminair. I can certainly count of you to eat my cooking. [ Helios beams. ]

[Because, really, if she had kept things as organized as she did back home, this likely wouldn't have happened...]

... I should have left myself notes. Reminders of things.

Not... blissfully play along what whatever the Malnosso did.

I should have questioned everything, but I blindly accepted...

I do not want to seem to be taking advantage of you Miss Syre, but I am rather fond of you as a friend and I wish to help you.

[Luke sipped quietly at his tea.]

But now you know to keep notes. I keep several notebooks filled with important things around my house, for just such a thing.

Of course! I'm sure we can both find a window in our respective diaries!

[Syre's smile falters for a fraction of a second at the mention of the Malnosso, though the happiness comes back into her face soon after. She leans forward, picking up two cupcakes -- one for herself, and one for the little dragon in her lap.]

Certainly not all of our meetings are because of them. There's got to be some divine intervention, for me to have been so blessed in getting to know you.

[Syre thinks on this a bit. Manipulating the senses, huh...? If he could help her clear her head enough to return to normal, then it wouldn't be so bad.]

[She looks down at the table, then over at the messy desk of notes. Then, with a sigh, she returns her gaze to Spock.]

...do as you will, then. If it will help... I trust you.

[Syre takes another sip from her cup, looking into it almost distantly.]

... It's funny, how easily the Malnosso can twist our minds.

Funny, and quite infuriating.

[Syre looks at something off-screen, then taps her finger against something lightly.]

How does the 24th sound to you?

[Eggman flaps about a lot of papers in an attempt to pretend he actually has a diary that he's flicking through.]

There's nothing I can't cancel! The 24th it is! [And he scribbles that date onto a piece of scrap paper off-camera.]

Good, good!

I'll see you then. [With a smile and a wave, the feed cuts off soon after.]

It is. Though you have to be careful to not let anger cloud your mind and distract you from what's really important.

You are alive, and you are well. That matters more than anything.

It's hard. [She swallows back the crack in her voice, forcing herself to speak evenly.] It's so hard, to remain calm, and not let things irritate me like this.

But Gods be damned if I ever have to face something like this again. [She drains her cup in one final drink, then leans her head back tiredly, her eyes distant.] All the self-control in the world couldn't keep me calm then.

Syre, I know. Believe me I do.

[Luke shakes his head and sighs]

[ Helios watches Syre carefully as she takes two of the cupcakes. Luminair gives a happy little chirp looking back at Helios with questioning eyes. Helios waves the little dragon off, which sets off Luminair's tail into a fit of happy wags. ]

No, certainly not. We definitely have to meet on better terms in the future though. [ Helios colors slightly at the compliment. ] Ah. N-No. I'm just...trying to help, is all. No blessings needed for that.

[Syre is silent a moment, shutting her eyes before lowering her head.]

I would... very much appreciate that. [If it would help her suppress things like this, then it was certainly worth a shot.]

Good. Then we can work on that in the weeks to come.

[Luke smiles oddly]

Syre, have you met Spock?

[Don't mind Syre, she's just gonna... hand Luminair his cupcake now, as she takes a bite from her own.]

Yes, definitely. Better terms would certainly be less stress inducing!

[She smiles warmly back at Helios, taking another bite from her cupcake.]

You've been more helpful than anyone I've ever met, Helios. Compassionate and kind... Much more of a gentleman than any knight in my homeland. [A faint flush rises to her cheeks, and she averts her eyes.]

Very well.

[One eye opens slowly, fixing Luke with a curious glance.]

Sir Spock? I met him at the Masquerade. Very eloquently spoken, he is.

Well, this might seem a bit sudden, but perhaps it'll take your mind off your worries.

[Luke smiles across the table, finishing his tea before he goes on]

Spock would like to be set up on a sort of blind date, a double date with Ami and myself possibly. It might be a nice diversion, and would certainly make for a nice evening.

[Syre can feel the heat rising in her cheeks, shyness creeping into her expression.]

Oh, G-Gods, really? I-I didn't know that he was wanting to g-go out with me...!

Its a blind date, so he doesn't know. He just asked if I'd find someone willing to give it a try. Apparently Vulcans don't date much.

[Luke pauses and sets down his empty cup]

And I think you two would get along famously.

[Spock nods then stands offering Syre and hand up...]

Then perhaps it would be best if you readied yourself for sleep. This works more efficiently if you are comfortable and in bed.

Once you are asleep, I will leave you to your rest and we can talk at a later date.

[Slowly, Syre takes Spock's hand, rising from her seat.]

[After he speaks, she nods, then slowly walks over to the door of her bedroom.]

V-Very well. I shall let you know when I am... ah... 'proper'.
